DTF Design Guides: File Prep, Color, and Print-Ready Artwork

DTF design guides cover everything between the artboard and the printer. File formats, DPI, color spaces, halftones, edge softness, and the prep checks that decide whether a print survives twenty-five wash cycles. Start with the DTF artwork requirements guide for the baseline checklist, then move into the gang sheet layout playbook when you are ready to maximize meters of film, and read the UV DTF process for hard-surface design considerations.

Why file prep is the highest-leverage DTF skill.

Print quality on DTF is decided in design prep more than in printer choice for the first six months of any new operator's workflow. A clean CMYK plus white-channel file at 300 DPI with a transparent background prints well on almost any DTF printer; a sloppy file looks sloppy on any printer. Lock the file-prep checklist before you tune anything else. For the press-side recipe that completes the workflow, see DTF heat press settings and verify every recipe with the four-step wash test.

Where to take your DTF design workflow next.

The natural progression from design is into the press and the wash test. Cross to the heat press guides for execution recipes, or browse gang sheet academy for layout-specific deep dives.
